The term adolescent sexuality refers to both the anatomical and psychological growths of sexual awareness within an individual, usually associated with the period of puberty. This also includes the sexual behaviors of individuals undergoing puberty. Because of the brain now swimming in previously unapparent hormones, outward expressions of sexuality make themselves manifest during puberty, the beginnings of adolescence.

With all the hormones going around, it is not difficult to imagine an adolescent confused with the advent of his strong sexual urges. Parents would do well to remember that proper guidance on matters of sexuality is no less than necessary for an adolescent. The authority of the knowledge imparted by a parental figure will surely outweigh the myths that the adolescent hears regarding sexuality from his peers, who are just as clueless as the first adolescent.

The advent of adolescent sexuality is testy to overcome for anyone, add to that the undoubted physical surprises of puberty (i.e. hair growing in strange places, an increase in body mass, etc). This is not to say that adolescent sexuality is not a problem; it is a necessary part of human development; but it can certainly be an avenue of confusion and utterly wrong choices.
A responsible and wise adolescent, however, checks against reliable sources, weighs every decision and every possible outcome before engaging in any sexual act or matter.
